It was Open Cambridge weekend – the library was open to anyone and everyone Friday and Saturday and we had lots of visitors. Medieval manuscripts aren’t the easiest objects to display and explain but it’s hard not to be impressed when you come face to face with the St Augustine gospels.
The mappa mundi also went down well. A confident 8 year old Australian told me precisely when Australia was discovered and told me not to bother looking for it on the map.
And for those who don’t ‘do’ manuscripts, the two library globes were a great draw.
