Queenborough Feast

The evening of Friday 5th February saw the annual Queenborough Feast, which is held on the Sunday after Candlemas.  This is a dinner endowed by Almeric Page, First Baron Queenborough, sometime Fellow of the College.  Lord Queenborough, who died in 1949, was a notable benefactor, supporting a lectureship in political theory or economics, and donating a number of incunables and early printed books to the Parker Library.

The Queenborough Feast was set up to strengthen the relationship between the College and the city, and the Mayor and a number of elected city councillors are invited to the dinner each year, in addition to representatives of the Worshipful Company of Skinners and the Girdlers’ Company.

The Parker Library opened its doors before the dinner to allow invited guests and Fellows to view the current exhibition, which included the sixth-century St Augustine Gospels.
